This composite is composed of pictures from the animation showing the Moon's libration phenomenon (see also the GIF format in 600 x 600 pixels). The Moon's libration is the fact of see a little part of the far side of the Moon, because of its elliptic orbit and its inclination.
Then, some craters and Moon located on the Moon's limb are sometimes visible depending of the libration: see this animation of a part of the Moon (also available in GIF).
In the animation, the libration give to the Moon a houla-hoop movement.
We also see the diminution of the size of the Moon disk betewwen the Crescent and the Full Moon. Explanation in the following page.

All the pictures in this animation have been created by adding many photos with Registax, then aligning them with Virtual Moon Atlas.
