By a fresh February morning, I took those pictures of saint Nicolas Island (in the Glenan archipelago) on the Kermil beach, profiting of the relief of this beach. The upper picture had been taken down the beach, near the sea (about 1,5 m of altitude) and the lower one at about 20 m of elevation.
Near the shore, only the higher structures of Sheep's Island appear: lighthouse, stakes, "summits". They seem to be higher than in reality, because they are sticked with their reflection, by a mirage phenomenon. Then, the Island seems to float above the sea and to be symmetrical regarding the horizontal. As I climb the beach, the picture gets sharper and the reflection disappear: at last Saint Nicolas is touching the sea.
See the animation gathering the 15 images taken: in Flash format (183 ko) and in GIF format (626 ko). |
