The best period to see the zodiacal ligth before the sunrise is the beginning of autumn. To see it after sunset, better to try at the beginning of spring. Why? Because that's the period when the ecliptic (where the zodiacal light is) is the higher in the sky, near the vertical. So that glow is well above the hazy layer near the horizon.
Here, I have composite the pictures taken on the November 1st, in the morning with those taken on the March 9th, in the evening. One can see that the zodiacal light is near the vertical.
