On June 23, 2006, the Moon and the Pleiades will have a close encounter. A must see that I can't miss! But there is one problem: the encounter will occur at 4:30 AM...
The evening before, the weather forecast is good for the morning of the conjunction. I decide to go to Sainte Marine, a small town in front of Bénodet where a church, a lighthouse and a nice house called "Le Minaret" form a good foreground. So, I set my alarm clock at 3:50 AM.
When I woke up, the sky is clear. I take my equipment and go to Sainte Marine. Once there, I'm going in front of the Ocean to see the Moon and the Pleiades near the horizon. Despite some far clouds, I can see them and take my first picture. |
