Here is why I was there atop the Mount Saint-Michel-de-Brasparts: the zodiacal light. The day after the Autumn equinox is the best period to capture this pale glow.
The zodiacal light extends from the right of the Chapel (notice Venus close to the horizon, behind Leo's head), overpasses the Beehive star cluster and reaches the Milky Way in Gemini. |
