March 20, 2005 is the day of the Spring Equinox. At this time of the year, the Sun set exactly toward the West. The Eckmühl lighthouse is an ideal landmark, with its 65 m high and its position exactly West of the city of Le Guilvinec.
By chance, March 18 is sunny, so I decide take pictures of the Sunset during the three days preceding the equinox. March 19 was sunny too, but the day of the equinox is cloudy so that I can't achieve my project.
Meanwhile, I realized a composite from the pictures taken on March 18 and 19, in order to show the position of the Sun from a day to the next one. The presence of the lighthouse highlight the differences. The position of the Sun on the 19th is higher and on the right of its position the day before.
Here are animations showing:
- the Sunset in parallel: in Flash format and AVI
- the Sunset by superposition: in Flash format and AVI |
