It is the first of the great Venus-Moon conjunction pictures serie taken in the evening on January 24, 2004. If you gaze the Crescent Moon visible through the branches, you can see that the pale earthshine begin to appear. The sky is just dark enough to allow the picture to reveal this part of the Moon faintly illuminate by the Earth.
On the right of the vivid Venus shine the modest star Lambda Aquarii at magnitude 3.7. |
